- Spongebob Squarepants: You do not need a satellite TV subscription to watch this yellow sponge and his comrades stir up trouble under the sea. The Nickelodeon cartoon is popular nearly 10 years now and shows no sign of slowing down. Nick was one of the first to adapt to high-res cartooning and Spongebob is a testament to that.
- The Disney Channel: Disney always knows how to mix the best of the old and new, be it live-action in high definition or hand-drawn cartoons or Pixar animation. No matter what you watch on Disney, it's fun the whole family can enjoy and is something not to be missed.
- Dora the Explorer: For the preschooler in your life, Dora is a mini Spanish conquistadora who explores with her backpack and friends to solve mysteries. What are so great about this cartoon for little ones is the language acquisition techniques it teaches at such a young age, adding in repetitive sounds and storylines to sing along with. More recently, the Nick Jr. cartoon has turned Dora into a made for TV movie in high definition for the whole family.
- If you have satellite TV subscriptions, you probably receive many of the extra channels that spin off of Discovery, Animal Planet, National Geographic, Nickelodeon, Disney, and more. What you may not know is that sports TV stations also have additional channels that are tailored toward children and cartoons. Check your local listings to find out if there are soccer or baseball cartoons for active little man in your house.
- Basic cable channels: Old classics like The Flinstones and Arthur are still shown on basic cable like CBS, your local public broadcasting station (PBS) and the Cartoon Network, which you do not need a satellite TV or high definition subscription for, though all of those channels are now available in HD for the increasing amount of television sets that offer the relatively new (and increasingly inexpensive) technology. Check your local TV Guide listings for what you can catch on a Saturday morning and work with the whole family to set up a weekend of fun, chocolately, unhealthy cereals, pajamas and fun. It's a great bonding experience for everyone to enjoy!
